Story

During Annette's illness we - Christine, Annette's daughter and Sue, Annette's sister discussed about running the London Marathon in aid of Lung Cancer, Annette said she would be waiting at the finish line for us. Although she won't be there in person she will be in our hearts as we run the London Marathon as part of Roy Castles Lung Foundation Team in Annette's memory. We have pledged to raise £4000 between us. Please help us achieve this

Updates

What an achievement!!

24th April 2016
I am so so proud to announce that Christine completed the London Marathon today in memory of her dear mum. It was incredibly hard both physically and emotionally but after a lot of guts and determination she completed it in 7 hrs 19 mins. Well done Christine xxxxxxxx

One week to go

18th April 2016
With great regret and immense disappointment I have been advised not to run on Sunday due to side effects I am experiencing from my treatment. The Foundation have kindly said I can be part of their team in 2017 which I have accepted with everything crossed. I, however will accompany Christine to start line and cheer her along ensuring she crosses the finish line with pride on her face. The fundraising will not end and I pledge to continue to raise money and awareness to stamp this cruel and unforgiving form of cancer that cruelly took my sister away. Thank you again to everyone's support and encouragement. Sue xxx

Update

18th April 2016
Well, I went back to training this week. Having three PT sessions a week courtesy of Alex Myers at Studio Cv34 plus back running. Two goals now : Catch up with training ready for April 24th Get my body and mind in tip top condition in anticipation for my Cancer Treatment. My oncology appointment is on the 16th so not much longer to wait.

Training update

22nd February 2016
Training was going well and I was on target to complete the marathon in 4 hours. Yet, on New Years Eve I was diagnosed as having Breast Cancer. After undergoing two operations I am awaiting to commence radiotherapy / hormone treatment and possibly chemotherapy . This has not only had an impact on my training plan but has been an emotional few weeks. Although I am still aiming to run the London Marathon I realise it may be out of my control and there is a high possibility I will have to defer until 2017. However, on a more positive note, Christine - an inexperienced runner is well on track and making us all proud. She is going to tackle a 16 mile run this weekend, after comfortably completing 13 miles. No matter what, I will continue to raise money in the name of Annette to help fight this dreadful disease. Thank you to everyone for your generosity and support .xx
